Giving external user limited access

I would like to let an external user to review a doors specification. Basically it should only have access to a few modules, read access to a few attributed and write access to a comment attribute. The review user should not be able to read other attributes nor modules.

What is the best way to do this?
As I understand the access method enforces that one "un-inherits" all modules and folders that the review user should not have access to. The modules to be reviewed must have rw access on module level (to be able to save comments), but then all attributes must be "un-inherited", and access for review user removed from all other attributes.

Is there any better way? I'm new to dxl, anyone who has posted or can post something like this? To me it sounds like a quite common task?

Best regards and thankful for all advice

It is impractical in my opinion to set this up with DXL.

They'll only need RM to the module. R to attributes that they can only read. And RM to the comments attribute. Of course if you're using 9.1 they could just use the discussions feature since you only need R to start a discussion. Everything else will be 'None'. Put them in their own group, don't set it up at a user level.

If your requirements do not change often you can use DOORS copy and link to create data for review:
  • create module(s) for external reviewers and give access just to these modules to the external users
  • use the Copy objects tool to copy objects with selected attributes from original module to the review module, create links at the same time from review objects to original objects
  • in the review module create a comment attribute
  • in the original module create a tracebility view to access the comment attribute in the review module
